Every year since 2019 during the month of March, Bi+ Georgia participates in Bisexual Health Awareness Month, or #BiHealthMonth, by hosting a panel of scholars, activists, and community leaders on topics of health relating specifically to bisexual+ community, for instance HIV/AIDS and mental health. We call the event Bi+ Georgia: Healthy & Thriving.

The event usually includes a resource market where the community can get connected with resources that we need. We’ve had organizations like Georgia Equality, Planned Parenthood Southeast, Feminist Women’s Health Center, and more.

We also aim to have free HIV screening at each Healthy & Thriving event. Georgia ranks in the top 10 states for HIV risk and states in the American South account for 7 out of those top 10. We believe it’s part of our mission and vision to help address the epidemic. We work with providers like Aniz, Inc to make free testing available. [source]

Bisexual Health Awareness Month or #BiHealthMonth was started in 2014 by Bisexual Resource Center and they continue to lead the charge in the effort to address health disparities for bisexual+ people through the campaign.

Bisexual Visibility Day

Every year on September 23rd and the days around it, Bi+ Georgia joins bisexual+ people from around the world in celebrating Bisexual Visibility Day!

Mutual Aid

We believe a safe and thriving bisexual+ community is one where its members have their tangible (and immaterial) needs met. To this end, individuals will periodically pool and raise funds for community members when they need it.

Bi+ Community Spaces

Bi+ Georgia’s most consistent form of programming is the creation of community spaces for socializing, entertainment, and education. These events come in the form of ice cream socials, karaoke, film screenings, and more.

We have also worked with Atlanta Pride to create the first annual Bi/Pan March at the Atlanta Pride Festival in 2019.
